DEMOCRACY IN AFRICA WE LEAD (KENYA)AND OTHERS FOLLOW. By Ahmed Sheikh Buba
|
The aftermath of last weeeks democratic political storm was the talk show in many of the Western Tvs and newspaper around the World. These images and the historic ORM saturday celebration will definately be unpleasant memeories to be forgotten by the Banana team. To comment about our Democracy in Kenya, we are there but we are not there yet. However, we are far better than our neighbours Tanzania tainted by the Zanzibars beatings, Uganda the talk of the Commonwealth Head of States meeting in Malta in reference to the jailing of the oppostion leader, Ethiopia the deaths of over 80 people in Addisababa and Kebri Dahar shootings, Sudan with their Janjawiid genocides and not forgetting Somalia where Democracy has practically seized to exist. Now the argument about what happened in last weeks voting is then giving way to one about what should happen next. The core issue here is that the President is confronted by a rising chorus of development demands by his fellow kenyans. But, this demands can only be delivered by organised, martured and unified cabinet. As impatience is part of the human pshyche my fellow kenyans has every right to feel irritated by the events of the last three years of NARC leadership. The future of the country as a Democratic state will be determined by the President ability to formulate a new, more honest national narrative cabinet. We are counting on your next move Mr President, please save your fellow country men/women from more sufferings. Ahmed Sheikh Buba The writer is a Post-graduate development student at the university of Brunel West London.
