The Clumsy words from ogadenonline editorial board. By A Hassan
|
The reading of Time to Flush Out the Armed Thugs from Ogaden article by the Ogaden.com editorial board (OEB) placed me a moral dilemma. I make once my mind up to take a dim view the unwisely formulated article, however I couldnt veil my utter resentment over the way OEB tried to pull the wool over our eyes about the contemporary situation in the region.
OEB made a homily, offensive and futile speech with myopic policy and devoid of sense. They tried to discredit and harm the reputation of a devoted prominent organisation namely United Westerns Somali Liberation Front (UWSLF).
OEB argued preposterously that UWSLF is rarely observed and even present in the region, as OEB imprudently and irrationally labelled them as stooges and cohort of foreign missionaries. Hence, wouldnt it be the right time not to parrot the rest of drivel but express my view in a few words? Certainly yes!
To begin with the lingua franca used in the article it seems that the writer, what so ever status he has in OEB hierarchy, is in the early pedagogical stage, as he bitterly opted the immature and offensive expressions in his text. Furthermore, title of editorial board has certain ethical and moral guidance, leave alone an editorial board that represent an organisation such as ONLF. Moreover debating in cyber spaces is contingent upon a common decency and fairness. However, the writer has either in a sheer ignorance or deliberately paid no heed to such rules.
Secondly, I horrendously doubt if the content of the article reflects the overall policy of ONLF, as the article is publish www.ogaden.com, which apparently serves as the mouthpiece of ONLF. If so, Ill sincerely remind my fellow comrades that: Single-minded (man) party has reached at the end of the line, as pluralism gain more position in the hearts of main stream of the region.
Threat and intimidation beyond the screen has no place in the rational and bona fide world. Consequently, pronouncing to flush out UWSLF contingents, which are not persona non-grata in their region, is insane rather than clumsy words.
As Islam renascence flourishes in Muslim world in general and in the Ogaden region in particular, UWSLF is bent on leading the people of Ogaden with a constitution that reflects their faith and is in harmony with cultural heritage.
The ramification and diversified opinion are ultimately tools for open and broad spectrum debate particularly in this regard.
Thirdly, it is undeniable that UWSLF had unwaveringly determined (and yet determine) over a decade ago to unshackle the people of Ogaden from the repression of Addis-Ababa regime, suffice to say its heroic political and armed achievements that history records account, as their presence is yet irrefutable and its unlikely to wane in spite of foreign and local pressures.
The wax and wane of UWSLF contingents in the region is justifiably due to political manoeuvring. In addition, they used to hold sway a major part of the region and the people of Ogaden hark back to those days. UWSLF has understandably abducted two ICRC employees, but they released and gave them unequivocal apologize as Mr. Gaashaan told to BBC Somali serves. Nevertheless, with the wisdom of hindsight both UWSLF and ICRC workers now see what horribly went wrong and how.
To conclude, I wonder if OED could see the broad picture and perspective in preference to offending a legendary organisation. In addition, a debate with essence and far sighted policy will always be appreciated by the readers.
Last but not least, time will tell us who is thug and who is thorn in the eyes of Addis-Ababa regime.
May Allah bless our deeds, Amin. By A. Hassan. [email protected] |
