 In Memory of the Dervishes of Somaliya. By Arte Moallin III

Somalia was born on the back and blood of Somalia�s Dervishes who rode horses from the far north into the deep south, from the waters of the Indian Ocean and into the ancient Kingdom of East Africa�s Abyssinia, against the English, the Italians, the French, and even Ethiopia�s then Habasha Kingdom.
The Colonials came together to plan against the Dervishes, their horses, and their leader whom the British nicknamed �The Mad Mullah.� But the dervishes were horse riders, and camel lovers. They trained their horses to the cliffs of mountains and into the bottoms of caves and hills, while living on Somalia�s camel milk; and wherever they went, the Somali speaking people of East Africa welcomed them, with love and passion, even misleading the British and their guides who rode donkeys, while at the same time informing the Dervishes of the whereabouts of the British and their Somalia guides � the likes of modern day Abdullahi Yusuf in Baidoa and Ade Muse of Puntland, both of whom called the Tigries of Ethiopia to the sacred lands and nation of the Dervishes, simply because ALL Somalis, as well as the sons and daughters of the Dervishes are adhering to the teachings of the Mad Mullah and his Dervishes. Alas! Are the Dervishes not burning with tear in the graves, simply because they can�t reach out, to ride their lines of horses, so they may do away with Abdullahi Yusuf and Ade Muse.
In the mid 1990�s, a child of the Dervishes stood in Djibouti�s Somalia Reconciliation Conference, seeking the leadership of Somalia, but Abdullahi Yusuf and his cousins spied on him, and did everything they could to defeat his candidacy for Somalia�s presidency. Rather than helping him in the memory of his forefathers, who shed their blood so their sons and daughters would be Somalis of integrity and patriotism among their people and nation, so they may rightfully lead the people of Somalia, Abdullahi Yusuf was in Puntland, financing everyone who spoke to him about �defeating the son of the Dervishes� so that the sacred lands of Sool and Sanaag would always be politically occupied by Abdullahi and his allies, even naming the Puntland arm forces of Garoowe and Bosaaso, �The Dervish Military�, thus stealing the legacy of the Dervishes from the sons and daughters who are most rightfully entitled to that history. Alas!
Today, Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf is whispering into the ears of the sons and daughters of the Dervishes, poisoning their hearts against the wishes of their nation and public, even in the face of Colonial State Ethiopia, with Abdullahi Yusuf in Baidoa and Ade Muse in Puntland publicly calling the Tigri lead forces of Ethiopia on the sons and sacred lands and nation of the Dervishes, who wish to live freely and without oppression � a right they are most rightfully entitled to since evicted the British Empire out of East Africa, let alone a poor and Global Aid dependent African State, run by a clan government in Addis Ababa.
How unjust are the sons and daughters of the Dervishes, to their history, religion, nation and forefathers against agents Abdullahi Yusuf and Ade Muse? Are they not obligated to fight against anyone who violates the sacred history and values of the Dervishes, their horses and ancient camels of East Africa?
There is a saying in Somalia that goes along the lines of: It is better to declare, I own donkeys than to declare my father owned camels. Point? It is better to admit what material
and qualities one has and possess, than to boast about a father�s. While some of us may agonize over the loss of heroes in the living lines of the Dervishes� sons and daughters, a majority of them who are now running around in the west, and even in Somalia, holding hands with the sinister hearts of Abdullahi Yusuf and Ade Muse, both of them men who continue to stand in opposition of the Dervishes� long envisioned dream of their sons and daughters being free to lead their nation and people of East Africa, while continuing with the legacy of their forefathers, the real loss in quality is resident IN THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS of the Dervishes who are now more contempt with the dictation of unqualified men in Abdullahi Yusuf and Ade Muse, who have, let alone anything else, stole the historical name of �The Dervish Military�.
Luckily, Somalia has its public, all who value the history of the Dervishes and their Mad Mullah, and who will neither sit nor sleep so long as there continues to be disgruntled men like Abdullahi Yusuf and Ade Muse, who, let alone the nation, oppress their own immediate cousins, who also happen to be neighbors in land. Just recently, these two men and their handyman �Afguduud�called the Tigries of Ethiopia on the sons and daughters of the Dervishes in Sool, Sanaag and Cayn, who decided to reconnect with the history of their forefathers � men who fought and died for the right to rule self, in Islamic Ruled Courts.
The sons and daughters of the Dervishes, of the likes of Somalia�s Ali Khaliif Galeyr shall be free to rule self, and run for Somalia�s highest seat in the nation, without fear off or interference from Abdullahi Yusuf, Ade Muse, or handyman �Afguduud�.
And though the sons and daughters of the Dervishes may live in despair � fearful of the ever sinister minds of Abdullahi Yusuf and Ade Muse, along with handyman �Afguduud� leading the new oppressors of East Africa�s Ancient Kingdom of Ethiopia on them � the poetic voices of the Dervishes, rising from the graves in the sacred lands of Sool, Sanaag and Cayn shall soon, and with the blessing of the powers of �Be�, echo in the hearts of the decedents, thus helping them overcome their unqualified counterparts in Abdullahi Yusuf, Ade Muse and handyman �Afguduud�, thus taking the sword with the rest of Somalis, who are destined to do justice on the 15year old enemy of Somalia in Zenawi.
In Memory of the Dervishes, Somalia shall always overcome its enemies, whether they be the Ancient Colonial Empire of United Kingdom, which bombed the Mad Mullah and his Dervishes or the Tigrie Monster in Addis Ababa, ever looking at Mogadishu, recalling what �Strong Man� President Mohamed Siyad Barre did to Marxist Mingestu in the early �70s: Having broken the spirit of Ethiopia, which to this day, it still agonizes over, thus being fearful of Somalia and its citizens. Forget Abdullahi Yusuf, Ade Muse or handyman �Afguduud�, no leader in Somalia can ever violate the leadership of Somalia�s Mad Mullah, its Dervishes and its �Strong Man�, President Mohamed Siyad Barre, may they ALL rest in peace, knowing, after 15years of self-pity, their nation is standing up to the Tigrie clan based midget in Addis Ababa, Mr. Zenawi, for the crimes he committed against the nation for 15years but in the leadership of its new, modern day Peaceful Mullah, Sh. Shariif Sh. Ahmed.
Of course, Zenawi is militia turned head of State, while the African dictators are so na�ve to house the African Union in Addis Ababa � a capital city that has NEVER seen a peaceful democratic transfer of power from one democratically elected government to another democratically elected government. If the African Union is so ill-equipped to house itself and operate from a city like Addis Ababa, which has yet to see the peaceful transfer of power, like the United States exercises every four or eight years, thus qualifying for the right to host the World Body, or United Nations, the people of Africa have EVERY RIGHT to REFUSE the guidance of such a union as the AU. Therefore, so do the Somali people today, with their seat at the African Union in Addis Ababa occupied by a man who was handpicked by Zenawi�s military attaches in Somalia, who commanded him on numerous operations on and against the Somali people. How can such a representative sit on the Somalia Chair AT THE AU? Nor can the AU accept a word he utters in print or voice as serving the interest of the Somalia nation and its people, whom he repeatedly violates, let alone represent?
For fifteen years, the AU, hosted in Addis Ababa, did NOT sanction Mr. Zenawi for his violations on the sovereignty of Somalia or its people, nor did the African Union find enough courage and force to arrest Zenawi�s agents in Mogadishu. Today, the African Union is being directed and dictated to by Zenawi, so he gets to send troops to continue his abuse of the Somalia people and nation, but with the blessings of the African Union. Let me ask: Do the Somali people and nation have to continue to be a member State of the African Union ANYMORE, especially when the AU�s roster is filled by representatives of un-elected governments, or it is so ill-equipped it can�t even realize the difference between the two neighboring States of Kenya and Ethiopia, the first being a Democratic State, with various governing bodies, separated by the �Separations of Powers�, while the latter has yet to see the peaceful transfer of its consolidated power, let alone democratize its various so-called �institutions�, thus imposing �separations of powers�?
The AU, formerly OAU, was the brainchild of men who wanted to role-play the European powers while �protecting Africa from the FOREIGN [EUROPEAN] Colonials�. Rather than adhere to its principal of �protecting� African States regardless of whether the �Foreign enemy of State� is a European State or African State, the AU has given dictators like Zenawi the right to �virtually� colonize another African State, in this case Somalia through the so-called Somaliland, Puntland, and now TFG where he is committed to put Gedi of the TFG in Mogadishu, for the purpose of dictating to Mr. Gedi, while extorting large sums of money for his own self, as he does today with Somaliland�s Riyale Kahin and Puntland�s Ade Muse � a practice the ancient heads of States in Colonial Europe used to do to the African States.
To the African Union, Somalia is not an ordinary African State. It�s people have stood against the British Empire on the back of its Dervishes and their Mad Mullah; the UN Forces of �90s with the defiance of its men, women and children; and for fifteen years, Zenawi was lusting after Mogadishu, which stood lawless and free, even without a government. Now, how does the African Union, headed by un-elected heads of State expect to deploy troops to Somalia, against the wishes of its people, especially now after they have removed the road blocks; returned lands and properties to one another; defeated the thugs among them, with their own money and blood; and are defiant to build their own nation with democratically elected representatives rather than Zenawi masterminded TFG, which is filled with Chat (�Kat�) intoxicated and military men of no other education but war and tribalism? The Somalia people do NOT answer to the African Union, commanded by representatives of un-elected State governments, but to themselves; they violates no one, but Zenawi is fearing them; and they are cornered to a wall, they ONLY know one option: War and Not Peace, examples being the history of the Dervishes who were offended by the presence of British and Colonials; the tenure of Strong man Mohamed Siyad Barre who was offended by Marxist Mingestu�s aggression against the Ethnic Somalis of Ethiopia; and General Mohamed Farah Aideed who was sought by the UN forces in his own turf.
And in each case, Somalis won. Now that Zenawi couldn�t do away with the rights of the Somalia public, is the African Union turning on the Somali people and nation, in support of Zenawi and his TFG? If so, the AU should vacate Addis Ababa until the issue is settled between Zenawi of Ethiopia and Sh. Shariif of the ICU of Somalia, who commands enough support and loyalty from the Muslim World, let alone the rich Middle Eastern States, (who will flood him with men and material support, in a war with Ethiopia or AU or IGAD force, just as they are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan, against the Allied forces), not to mention all the Muslims of Black Africa, who are in search of what they may consider to be �Holy wars to eternal heaven� against a will be seen in a war between Sh. Shariif of the Somalia ICU and Zenawi of Ethiopia.
For those AU representatives who skipped history classes in college days, Somalia�s �Strong Man� Mohamed Siyad Barre, may he rest in peace, was within few kilometers of Addis Ababa in a war that shocked the world. The same generals who commanded and made up Mr. Mohamed Siyad Barre�s military elites and junior commanders are significantly older, enormously wiser, and substantially more religious and are on the side of the Islamic Courts Union, but this time, they are leading �Holy Fighters�, who have signed off on life, separated from their graves by the first shot of every battle they encounter. That is, to say the least, a very dangerous mix. Now, is it wise to dare such men? Wonder why the ICU has been so successful in EVERY battle? Or even more fearful, how do you defeat a dead man walking, wearing the Islamic Courts� Uniform? Make peace with him, not lust for war against him.
How can a man who is committed to defend his family and children lose? Somalia never did, and it is in the history of its Dervishes and their Mad Mullah. Similarly, Moses didn�t; nor did Ghandi of India; nor did Nelson Mandela of South Africa; nor the Slaves of America; nor did the European Colonized citizens of Africa. Nor will an African nation against an African State, committed to colonize the first. If the AU desires a repeat of Somalia�s war with Ethiopia, please let clan man Zenawi dig his own grave and the graves of so many East Africans, (not to mention all the �Holy fighters headed to eternal heaven� who will come from the Muslim world, including Black Africa, where now, they may be holding back on going to the far lands of the Middle East in Iraq and even Afghanistan) but vacate Addis Ababa until the issue is settled.
