On The Absames In The Transitional Federal Parliament of Somalia. By Arte Moalin III
To most of us, Somalia is turning around the corner in pursuit of liberty and justice and the pursuit of happiness. But as that invaluable dream is on the horizon, there are members of the Transitional Federal Parliament, two of them being Abdirashiid Aden Gabyow, who recently spoke on behalf the supposed deployment of African troops to Somalia, against the wishes of the Somali public, and Abdirishiid Xidig, who is so nave and ignorant about politics that he joined forces with warlord Barre Hiiraale, against the same people Mr. Xidig was sworn to represent in the Somalia TFG.

In fact, those two men are but only an example of those Absame MPs in the Transitional Federal Parliament who are so insecure about their role in the Transitional Federal Parliament or the gains of the Somali public whom they were sworn to represent in the TFG, that they are in bed with the Somali peoples enemy in Baidoa, attended to by Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf, Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedi, Mr. Hussein Aideed and Mr. Barre Hiiraale.

Rather than join forces with the Speaker of the Somalia Transitional Federal parliament, who COMMANDS WISDOM in leading Somalia to its rebirth, now with the help of the heroes in the Somalia public and their Union of Islamic Courts men and women who defied Mr. Abdullahi Yusufs, Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedis and Mr. Hussein Aideeds attempt to label them as International religious extremists by welcoming the worlds willing people to sit with them, negotiate with them for the welfare of the Somali public whom they serve honorably and with the confidence of the Somali public, and who are endlessly calling for the world to pay them a visit, having even invited the U.S. government to dispatch an official, fact-finding government delegation to Mogadishu there are but ONLY two among the Absame representatives in the Somalia Transitional Federal Institutions, who are worthy of their roles and representation of their Somali public, let alone just the Absames, whose name they have been sworn in as members of Somalias TFP.

I appreciate the Honorable Minister and MP, Abdi Mohamed Tarah, a man of wisdom and age, whose role in representing the interest of the Somali public has kept him at odds with all the Kat chewing members of the Absame family in the Somalia TFP. Of course, neither does Mr. Tarah chew Kat nor miss his daily prayers; yet, neither I nor anyone can question his commitment to the welfare of the Somalia nation, even against Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf, Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedi, and Mr. Barre Hiiraale, in their desire to lit war between the Somalia nation and its neighbor Ethiopia. Rather, Mr. Tarah has willingly and responsibly accepted the responsibility to ease all tensions between the Somali public and their neighbors, without second guessing his judgment or being commanded by either Abdullahi Yusuf or Ali Mohamed Geedi.

The rest of the Absame members in the TFP are more concerned about individual interest, daily loads of the stimulant Kat and what they expect will be appropriations from Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf and Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedi on government roles, not realizing, the body they are members of, basically the Somalia Transitional Federal Parliament, is constitutionally far, far more powerful than individuals Abdullahi Yusuf and Ali Mohamed Geedi. But of course, these men are uneducated and suffer from extreme lack of self-confidence, they havent even been able to find the courage to leave Baidoa on a fact-finding mission to the Somalia nations capital of Mogadishu.

Since these members of the Somalia Transitional Federal Parliament havent been able to visit the capital of the nation, in an attempt to see for themselves what the heroes of the Somali public did, against all odds, how can the Absame family of Somalia continue to tolerate such individuals, for instance of Abdirashiid Aden Gabyow, Abdirashiid Xidig, and Ahmed Haashi, to mention a few to represent the interest of the Somalia nation? And if the elders in the Absame family dont hold these individuals accountable, who do they expect must?

Recently, the Somalia Transitional Federal Parliament voted on a referendum on the TFGs prime minister, Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedi, who, ever since he was sworn in as Somalias Transitional Federal Parliament, hasnt been able to add an ounce of contribution to the welfare of the Somalia nation, but visits Addis Ababa, in countless times, all for what? We dont know. In fact, it appears, he is rather committed to serve the men in Addis Ababa than those whose clan-power sharing seat he holds, hopefully not for long, with Sheikh Shariif of the UIC being the champion in Somalias newly found freedom, against all odds!

Luckily, Somalias public have come to serve themselves, rather than being dependent on Kat intoxicated men, who serve anyone capable of lying to them, about everything. While I had long questioned myself: How can these Kat addicted men be lied to so many times, by the same people, what I didnt realize until now is, a Kat addict knows not who lied to them or what was lied to them about, because they are often so high on Kat, they cant tell the difference between the days, weeks and months. In fact, living on promises keeps them longing for Kat, as a means to waste what then seems to them endless waiting period before their promises are delivered. Point?

It is time the Absame elders in Somalia lead the way and reshuffle their members in the Somalia Transitional Federal Parliament, doing away with those who live on Kat and sin on daily bases, replacing them with men and women of high moral values, who know what it means to raise a family, or be responsible for a nation and its citizens. It is a shame for the Absame family to have qualifying representatives in the Somalia Transitional Federal parliament, who can and will lead a fact-finding mission from Baidoa to Mogadishu, which are few hours apart. If the current members of the Transitional Federal parliament cant be free of their Kat addictions for few days, just to travel to Somalias capital, on a fact-finding mission, how can they hold individuals like Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedi, Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf, or now, so called Denfense Minister, Mr. Barre Adan Shire Hiiraale accountable? Wont they be too intoxicated with Kat, and perhaps either sleeping or chewing the stimulant while individuals like Abdullahi Yusuf, Ali Mohamed Geedi and Barre Hiiraale have their way with the Somali people and nation?

Unlike those Kat intoxicated Absame members of the TFP, members of both the English parliament and the U.S. Congress had flown thousands of miles, to Iraq and Afghanistan, simply on fact-finding missions so they see for themselves the conducts of their military forces on the grounds in both nations, and to see how such effort contributed or limited the daily lives of those affected citizens.

Of course, I am not asking the Absame elders to demand their Kat intoxicated and even the those countable few who are free of the addiction in the TFP to fly to either Iraq or Afghanistan but to hit the road on a few hours drive to Somalias capital, to see for themselves, the creation of employment for the Somali public with the opening of Mogadishus airport and seaport; or the flux of daily traders, buzzing in Mogadishus markets as a result of the Union of the Islamic Courts having defeated the warlords, eliminated the roadblocks, and now providing security for Somalias needy citizens to earn for their families on daily bases, without fear of persecution or abuse in the hands of Kat and alcohol intoxicated, gun-touting young orphaned militias.

As the Somali saying goes: You kill a snake by its head. Therefore, if the Absame elders dont hold their representatives in the Somalia Transitional Federal Parliament accountable, for instance Abdirashiid Aden Gabyow, Abdirishiid Xidig and Mr. Ahmed Haashi, who seems to continue to serve Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf and Mr. Ali Mohamed Geedi, who authorized the deployment of Ethiopian troops into Somalia the same troops who have continuously victimized the Somali speaking people of Ethiopias citizens, majority Absames, let alone anyone else the Absame clan elders then need to resign from being the familys clan elders.

For instance, what will foreign forces, commanded by Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf do, to say, the Somali people of Mogadishu and Kismaayo? Or what will Ethiopian forces commanded by either Abdullahi Yusuf, Ali Mohamed Geedi or Barre Hiiraale do to the Somali people of Mogadishu and Kismaayo?

What will the forces that Mr. Abdirashiid Aden Gabyow is calling for do, when and if they arrive Somalia? How much longer should the elders of Mr. Abdirashiid Aden Gabyows family tolerate for such incompetence and irresponsible behavior by their representative, Mr. Abdirashiid Aden Gabyow? Or how much longer will the elders of Mr. Abdirashiid Xidigs family tolerate him, running around as Mr. Barre Hiiraales adopted child, willing to commit any crime told him to, against the interest of the Somalia nation, let alone those whom Mr. Xidig is supposed to represent in the Transitional Federal parliament? Perhaps those elders want Mr. Barre Hiiraale back in the Jubba States, so he can continue to oppress them?

Or how about the elders in Mr. Ahmed Haashis family? How much longer will they tolerate him sitting, camped out in Baidoa, never visiting the capital of the nation, on fact-finding missions, so he can honestly judge the gains of the Somali public, and make better decisions in the interest of the nation and the region, rather than being the commander-in-chief of all the Kat chewing members of the Absame family in the TFP? Perhaps they wont visit Mogadishu, especially since the UIC has banned Kat in Mogadishu and UIC controlled States of Somalia, now that I understand other Kat addicts are driving to Baidoa, simply to be able to chew the narcotic leaves?

Of course, I neither appreciate Mr. Gabyows ignorance in calling for foreign troops, nor Mr. Xidigis stupidity in being allied with warlord Barre Hiiraale, or Mr. Haashis lack of statesmanship in paying a respectable visit to the capital of Somalia, rather than being commanded by Abdullahi Yusuf or Ali Mohamed Geedi, neither of whom is a match for Somalias Speaker of the Parliament, the Honorable Shariif Hassan Sheikh Aden.
