Qorahey Education Foundation & Kabridahare Schools Fact Sheet
� Kabridahare School (Luel Ras Mokonnen) was opened in 1959 as a Boarding School with 200 Students.
� Classes were disrupted in 1962/3 due to the Somali/Ethiopian war, The school reopened in 1964 and soon became an Elementary/Middle School (grades 1 to 8).
� Eighth Grade graduates (from 1967 on) attended High School in Addis Ababa, Harar, or Jigjiga.
� The 1977 Somali/Ethiopian war disrupted classes again and the school reopened in 1978.
� Kabridahare High School (Ahmed Gurey High) was established in 1991/92 for the (Grades 9 & 10) academic school year.
Kabridahare Education Project, now known as Qorahey Education Foundation was established in February, 2004 in San Diego, California, USA.
� During the 2003/4 Academic year, 430 10th graders at Ahmed Gurey High School in Kabridahare took the High School Exit Examination. Only two students passed and entered College Preparatory School (Grades 11 & 12).
� During 2004/5 Academic school year, 460 Students took the High School Exit Examination Only one passed and entered College Preparatory School. There are Three Elementary Schools (4,800 students), one Intermediate School (2,494 students), one High School (Grades 10 & 11) with 1,000 students, and a College Preparatory School (Grades 11 & 12) in Kabridahare today.
� During the 2005/6 Academic school year, 152 students passed the High School Exit Examination and became eligible to join a College Preparatory School, a historic achievement compared to the last few years.
� In September 2006, with the help of the Qorahey Education Foundation, a College Preparatory School (Grades 11 & 12) was opened in Kabridahare to accommodate 152 Students who passed the High School Exit Examination 2005/06.
� In September/October 2006, Kabridahare Education Project hired 12 qualified Teachers to teach Kabridahare High and Preparatory Schools paying them monthly salaries and incentives to all school principals.
� In November 2006, Qorahey Education Foundation shipped over 7,000 Text Books, 30 Chalk Boards, a Computer, a Duplicator, and Stationery to Kabridahare for the High and College Preparatory Schools. Qorahey Education Foundation Plans to achieve the following goals in the near future:
� As of 2006/07, 50% or more 10th grade Students will pass the School exit exam every year.
� One thousand students or more will pass the High School Exit Examination and enter College Preparatory School by the year 2010.
� Establish Qorahey University in Kabridahare by the year 2012.
