Addis Ababa, (WIC) - The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) today endorsed the result for Segeg-Dihun-Gerbu constituency in the Somali State, which had not yet been declared due to complaints filed by the Western Somali Democratic Party (WSDP).
NEBE�s Press and Information Department told WIC today that the Board made the decision after examining the evidences submitted by the WSDP for alleged irregularities in the constituency during the May 21 elections.
Accordingly, the Somali Peoples� Democratic Party (SPDP) won a seat in the House of Peoples� Representatives (HPR) bringing the party�s seats in the HPR to 24, the department said.
The SPDP also won eight of the nine seats in the constituency for the Somali State Council, it said, adding that an independent candidate secured the remaining one seat.
Out of the 182 seats in the regional council, the SPDP got a total of 169 seats, while the WSDP won one seat. The remaining 12 seats are won by independent candidates, the department added.
