HPR revokes immunity of MPs, endorses appointment of cabinet members
Addis Ababa October 11,2024 (WIC)- The House of Peoples Representatives (HPR) today revoked the immunity of MPs who did not take up their seats at the parliament and boycotted the founding conference of the Addis Ababa administration, and approved a new cabinet of ministers proposed by the Prime Minister.
The House was told that the elect MPs who boycotted the parliament and the founding conference of the Addis Ababa administration have been openly advocating and
working to overthrow the government. As this stands against the constitution revoking their immunity would thus protect life and ensure stability, Meles said.
Following a lengthy debate, the HPR finally decided to revoke their immunity and gave mandate to the existing provisional administration of the Addis Ababa administration to continue administering the city as the wining party, CUD, has failed to take over its responsibilities.
