State Minister emphasizes need for ethical nurturing of children
Addis ababa, (WIC) - The State Minister of Labor and Social Affairs stressed the need for raising children in a manner that they could assume generational responsibility to create a better world, which would ensure peace, democracy and good governance.
Speaking here at the opening of the annual meeting of Association of Ethiopian Psychologists under the theme" Support for orphan in Ethiopia ", State Minister Mohammed Mealin Ali said parents should strive hard to ethically nurture children who will lead the country.
He said as the primary responsibility of bringing up children rests on parents their death cause serious social ,economic and psychological problems on children.
According to Mohammed, unless efforts are exerted to change the situation that force children to join street life as a result of the death of their parents, it would be impossible to enhance social development and build healthy society.
The State Minister lauded the focus of discussion of the association for its annual meeting as it opted to take the pressing problem of orphans.
President of the Association, Professor Darge Wolle on his part said the healthy development of children would play key role to break the vicious circle of poverty.
Research papers pertaining to orphans were presented at the daylong annual meeting attended by association members .
