Addis Ababa, May 9, 2006- Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin said the relations between Ethiopia and Somalia has been gaining momentum from time to time.

During talks with his Somalian counterpart yesterday, Foreign Minister Seyoum said a number of measures have been taken to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The two sides dwelt on ways of implementing the agreements signed at the Sa�na forum to help Somalia and other bilateral issues, Ethiopian Ambassador to Somalia Abdelaziz Ahmed Adel who attended the talks said.
The talks acknowledged the need to maintain and strengthen the largely stable situation there is now in Somalia, he said. Currently, most of the Somalia region seems to get peace and stability except separate cases of clashes in one part of Mogadishu, capital of Somalia.
It was noted also that IGAD member countries and the AU are preparing to support the implementation of a peace and stability policy by the Federal Transitional Government of Somalia.
Foreign Minister of Somalia, Abdulahi Sheikh Ismail said Ethiopia have been making considerable support over the past 14 years for the transitional government to get international recognition.
Ethiopia has also been supporting the peace and stability efforts in Somalia, he said, and pledged commitments to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and to bring about durable peace and stability in the Horn of Africa region.
