Master plan studies underway with 10mln birr in Somali state
Studies that would lay ground work for the preparations of master plans of eight towns in Somali state have been launched with an outlay of 10 million birr,according to the regional Trade, Industry, Transport, Urban Development and Investment Coordination Bureau.
Representative of the Bureau, Farah Mohammed Egal, told WIC today that Shinile, Gode and Kebri-Dahar zones were given priority because of their economic activities and accessibility.Additional 22 towns will also have master plans in the coming five years.
He said a study on revising the master plan of Jijiga town has simultaneously been under execution. The study would enable to expand the town by five kilometers on all directions.
Farah further stated that a pre-implementation study of master plans is underway for four towns at woreda level.
The master plans that are under study are vital in promoting investment, encouraging legal businesses, controlling contraband trade, promoting tourism and alleviating social problems of the people,he noted.
