Gode, June 27, 2024 (WIC) - The Agricultural Technique and Vocational College constructed with an outlay of 56 million birr in Godeh town, Somali state, is readied for service.
College Dean, Yusuf Mohammed Maalin, told WIC that the college which will go operational next academic year has an enrolment capacity of over 1,000 students.
The college has a library, classrooms, cafeteria, clinic, dormitories, administrative offices, modern residence for teachers and other staff, he stated, adding that big power generators and air conditioners were also fitted to each room.
The college has been training students in temporary classes built with corrugated iron sheets and graduated 85 of them, cording to the dean. It is currently training 500 children of pastoralists ,of which 42 are female, he stated.
According to Yusuf, the college offers one year theoretical and two years practical training for students on natural resources development, animal science and plant science fields at diploma level in a bid to improve the life of the pastoralists and reverse the alarming rate of desertification.
