Jijjiga: Trainings for Somali State judges bearing fruit: State supreme court
President of the Somali State Supreme Court said the trainings offered to judges in the state in a bid to facilitate the justice system is registering encouraging results.
Speaking at the conclusion of a one month training offered to judges in Somali state in Jijiga town, Kedir Abdurrahman said the capacity building activities carried out in the past Ethiopian budget year with a view to enabling the judges provide proper service is registering commendable results .
Kedir said some 395 judges drawn from nine zones and 52 woredas of the state have attended their higher educations in degree and diploma levels last year, while some 65 judges would complete their education this year.
He said some 67 judges have attended a short term trainings on the limitations of civil code, penal codes and criminal procedures, adding, more than 100 administrative and supporting staff members of the bureau have also received a month long training.
The president said the State courts have passed verdicts on close to 8,500 of the 10,500 cases filed last year.
Close to 80 registrars, administration and finance heads were in attendance at the one month training on human power administration, civil and penal codes as well as handling of legal cases, which is offered by the State's Management Institute.
